Chung-Chuan Cheng, aged 82, is one of the founders of the Fifth Moon Group. After her sixties, she has started to be blissfully happy to create artworks again. The elderly artist treasures every wonderful moment that she applies herself to work each painting.

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, the German philosopher, takes for granted that art prompts people to spread their tangled wings of the inner self. Owing to having resided abroad for decades, Chung-Chuan Cheng encountered lots of difficulties about familial obligations and cultural shock. The overseas experience has greatly transformed her spiritual growth into many impressive paintings with profundities.

As regards paintings, Chung-Chuan Cheng believes that depicting abstract works is much more challenging than realistic ones. In her pieces, it is evident that there are several thriving gardens or magnificent landscapes images; however, she never got a chance to travel for sketching the natural scenes after getting married. Every one of her “innermost scenery” embraces various feelings toward life and art creations.

Different from most women tending to be dependent, Chung-Chuan Cheng is an artist of both self-reliance and good character. Similar to those blossomy flowers on a plum tree in winter, the optimistic artist has expressed full confidence that she devotes herself to art after her sixties. Chung-Chuan Cheng feels grateful that she has gained much wisdom from valuable experience of sadness and happiness at overseas.
