Chung-Chuan Cheng


1931 .9      Born in Hsinchu City.  Her father Kuo-Chuan Cheng, born in a doctor family at Dongshi (Hsinchu Central Park now), graduated from Sotokufu Medical School (NTU College of Medicine now).  He is one of the 1st generation doctors practicing western medicine at Taiwan.  For decades, he had worked on Beimen Street, the North area of Hsinchu City.  Her mother, Liang Li, is a descendant of a philanthropist, Hsi-Chin Li (also named Ling-Mou Li).  

 

1938 .4         Enrolled in Hsinchu State Common Primary School (Hsinchu City East District Tungmen Primary School now)

1944 .4         Enrolled in Hsinchu State Girls’ Senior High School

1950 .6         Graduated from Taiwan Provincial Hsinchu Girls’ Senior High School (National Hsinchu Girls’ Senior High School now)

1952 .9         Enrolled in the Fine Art Department of Taiwan Provincial Normal College

1954             Painted and travelled at Mt. Ali with her classmates and teachers, such as Chi-Chun Liao and Duo-Ci Sun

1955-1956   Studied Painting at Shih-Chiao Li’s studio on Xinsheng South Road, Taipei City

1956.6          Obtained B.F.A. of Taiwan Provincial Normal College (National Taiwan Normal University now)

1956 .9         Taught in Taipei County Xinzhuang High School (New Taipei City Municipal Xinzhuang Junior High School now)

1957             Selected by the 11th Taiwan Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition

1957 .5         Founded the Fifth Moon Group with other artists.  The 1st Fifth Moon Exhibition was hold in Zhongzheng Auditorium, Taipei Zhongshan Hall.

1957 .7         Married Fu-Chuan Liang (Chi-Chun Liao is the matchmaker) and moved to Japan

1959 .1         The elder son Zheng-Sheng Liang, the current Vice Superintendent at Kanagawa Dental Hospital, was born

1961 .4         The younger son Zhe-Jie Liang, currently running a dental hospital in Ibaraki, was born

1989-1995   Joined the annual March exhibition at Sayegusa Art Gallery, Ginza, Tokyo

1990-2001   Joined the annual group exhibition at Setagaya Art Museum, Tokyo

1991 .9         Held the 1st solo exhibition at Toho Seimei Building Art Gallery, Shibuya, Tokyo

1992-2012   Joined the annual Fifth Moon Exhibition

1993-2000   Joined the annual Female Artists Exhibition of the first, third, fourth, and the fifth year

1995 .5         Held the 2nd solo exhibition at National Hsinchu Living Arts Center

1995-2002   Joined the annual group exhibition at Taipei Women’s Western Painting Group

2001 .9          Held the 3rd solo exhibition at the Gallery of the Fine Art Department at National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei

2001 .11        Held the 4th solo exhibition at National Hsinchu Living Arts Center

2001 .12        Held the 5th solo exhibition at Hoke Art Gallery, Hsinchu

2002 .1          Joined the group exhibition at Julia Gallery, Taipei

2002 .5          Held the 6th solo exhibition at Taichung Municipal Dadun Cultural Center

2003 .5          Held the 7th solo exhibition at Hoke Art Gallery, Hsinchu

2004 .5          Held the 8th solo exhibition invited by Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hsinchu City

2004 .5          Held the 9th solo exhibition at Hoke Art Gallery, Hsinchu

2004 .12        Joined “The Alumnus Solo Exhibition: Chung-Chuan Cheng” at National Hsinchu Girls’ Senior High School 80th Anniversary

2005 .3          Held the 10th solo exhibition at Hoke Art Gallery, Hsinchu

2006 .7          Joined “The Group Exhibition for 10 Art Masters” at ZS Art 1th Anniversary, Hsinchu

2006 .10        Held a solo exhibition invited by National Hsinchu Living Arts Center

2006 .10        Joined “Art Communication Exhibition: Japan and Taiwan” at Chan Liu Art Museum, Taipei

2007 .1          Joined the 5th “The Wind City Art Exhibition” at Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hsinchu City

2007 .7          Joined “Art Communication Exhibition: Japan and Taiwan” and circularly exhibited in 3 galleries in Japan
